Winter 2001-2002 Bulletin

 Welcome, Linda!

The Board and Staff extend an enthusiastic welcome to Assistant Director Linda Carlson. Linda has been in the non-profit sector since 1982. She became an Executive Director for non profit organizations in the early ‘90’s and she describes the responsibilities of her work as “managing, directing, collaborating, negotiating, marketing, public relations and relationship building on behalf of the agency and the people who love non profit work.” Linda’s history is marked by longstanding efforts to advocate for populations of people that have been impacted by social injustice and its effects on families and communities. Linda has a Bachelors degree in Social Work and Public Health and a Masters degree in Social Work. Prior to a move to Taos and coming to Amigos Bravos as the Assistant Director, Linda was the Executive Director for 8 years for the largest and oldest women and children’s counseling program in the San Francisco Bay Area. Linda will be acting as the Assistant Director for Amigos Bravos assisting the Executive Director and the staff in all aspects of its work in state-wide river conservation efforts. The most rewarding aspect of non profit work is to that she feels she is making a small contribution to helping the world be a better place. Linda feels agency work encourages risk taking, growth, empowerment and embracing new challenges. When she is not at work, Linda loves the outdoors, movies, good conversation, reading, music, gardening, and most importantly, traveling to unusual places throughout the world.
