Staff Changes...

We are very sorry to announce that Research and Development Director Andrew Kelton will be leaving Amigos Bravos to move back to England – he will be greatly missed! Andrew joined the staff in Feb., 2000. He has been an integral and steadfast part of the Amigos Bravos team – filling a critical leadership role in times of need. Andrew brought to Amigos Bravos the highest of standards of accountability, integrity, and analytical thinking. An avid fly fisherman, working through a deep connection to the rivers he so loves, Andrew was instrumental in doubling Amigos Bravos’ membership, staff, and budget during his three-year tenure. Working on water issues in severe drought conditions, Andrew lightened our staff meetings with his tremendous dry sense of humor, honed in the wet climate of his homeland! We wish Andrew, his wife Leslie, and their Jack Russels a safe journey and great success in their new ventures.

We are very pleased to welcome Mining Reform Campaign Manager Francisco Apodaca, to the Amigos Bravos team. Francisco will fill the role of a statewide circuit rider on mining issues. Under guidance from the Mining Impacts Communications Alliance, Francisco will provide assistance to communities throughout the state whose health and water are impacted by mining. Francisco will also work closely on national mining reform initiatives that can be enhanced by actions at the local level. Francisco has worked in diverse areas, from mining to public administration to legislative and congressional lobbying and plans to use these experiences to positively impact environmental regulation and policy at both the state and national levels. A Las Vegas, New Mexico native, Francisco is an avid fly fisherman and bicyclist who wants to ensure clean air and water for our future generations. His favorite saying is, “We didn’t inherit the earth, we borrow it from our children.”
